Fancy some Top Tips to make Christmas 2018 the best one yet? After all, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year… Aside from the bits where you’re so stressed you want to cry and you hate on yourself for eating a month’s worth of calories in one meal. Oh and the extra shopping trips you have to make post-Christmas to get refunds and exchanges for the numerous gift fails you have made and experienced. Sigh.
Ever the optimists, we’ve pulled together a few Top Tips to make Christmas 2018 the best Christmas yet, the Christmas that no one will ever forget.
- PLAN AHEAD.
Yeah you know this. Just start now… start buying, writing lists, cards, booking your M&S slot, doing everything you can with as much time to spare as humanly possible. Leaving things to the last minute eliminates the enjoyment factor and reduces the time in which you can just sit down and consume.
- ADD SPARKLE.
Take a piece of everyday life, and just add glitter. Wear jumpers… with sequins. Set the table, with glitter confetti. Put on your normal make-up and then carefully sprinkle fairy dust all over your face. Who says you can’t polish a turd? You definitely can.
- ADD MORE SPARKLE.
- PAY SOMEONE TO DO THINGS FOR YOU.
We’re not talking hired help as such… it’s more about paying M&S to peel stuff and giving your kids a fiver to wrap 95 presents. If there’s an option to offload, fund it.
- SECURE OUTSTANDING PERSONAL GIFTING.
Make sure your other half has signed up to dontletherdown.com to avoid Christmas morning present unwrapping devastation at all costs. The last thing you need is a disappointing pile when you’ve given your heart and soul to pleasing others (you deserve the world, wrapped in gold leaf and covered in glitter goddamnit!!).
- LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
Perhaps the wisest words we’ve ever spoken. If you don’t romanticise the occasion it can’t fail you. Imagine it’s going to be a bit rubbish and average at best, and anything above and beyond will be a total winner.
